The ever complicated texture of Old Dhaka gets smeared in colors on Monday as the inhabitants of Shakhari Bazaar celebrate Holi festival which is commemorated on Phalgun Purnima (full moon of Spring) and usually by the end of February or early March. The festival has its roots in ‘good’ triumphing over ‘bad’ and celebrated in anticipation of bridging the social gap and renewing relationships. Holi is locally known as “Doul” in Bangladesh.
