Chittagong, Bangladesh. September 06, 2015 [DrikNEWS] – Hindu community across the country celebrated Janmashtami yesterday to mark the birth of Lord Krishna. Different socio-cultural and religious organisations chalked out elaborate programmes to celebrate the day. Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad, Jessore unit, brought out a procession from Ramkrishna mission Ashram with placards, banner, festoons, traditional motifs and ended at town hall maidan, where drama scenes were displayed on events of life and works of the Lard Krishna. The programmes also included puja, Geeta Jagna, Kirtan, discussions and peace processions. According to the Hindu Puran (mythology) that Sri Krishna (Lord) was born on the eighth tithi of Shukla Pakkha (fortnight of the new moon) in the Bangla month of Bhadra and he takes birth in ages in the world to safeguard the good and pious people from the hands of evil to establish truth, justice and beauty in the society.
