Water crisis of Chittagong increases in summer

Title:Water crisis of Chittagong increases in summer

Chittagong, Bangladesh. June 02, 2015 [DrikNEWS] – Demand for mineral drinking water is highest in summer throughout the country. Chittagong residents in a number of areas are facing the crisis this year as well. People wait for hours to collect water. Pitchers and drums with water are sold for $0.25-$2.5. Member of the Parliament Nurul Islam, back in 2009, took an initiative and set deep tubewells in a number of areas of Chittagong. But this was not enough and residents now demand for more deep tubewells to overcome this crisis. Photos: Rajesh Chakraborty/DrikNEWS
